A.M.R.A. RULES AND REGULATIONS

Section 1. FLAGS:

GREEN: THE RACE IS UNDER WAY

YELLOW: CAUTION, NO PASSING ON THE TRACK. DRIVERS FORM A SINGLE LINE BEHIND THE LEADER AND FOLLOW THE STARTER'S DIRECTIONS

YELLOW AND WHITE: THESE TWO FLAGS TOGETHER INDICATE THE FIELD IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY BUNCHED FOR THE RESTART. IF YOU SEE THIS CLOSE IT UP.

RED: THE RACE IS STOPED. MOWERS MUST STOP IMMEDIATELY.

BLACK: GENERALLY FOR A DRIVING INFRACTION OR EQUIPMENT VIOLATION. DRIVER MUST COMPLETE LAP AND PULL INTO THE PITS. A FURLED BLACK FLAG MEANS THE DRIVER MUST CLEAN UP HIS/HER ACT OR RECEIVE A FULL BLACK FLAG.

WHITE AND GREEN: THESE TWO FLAGS TOGETHER SIGNFIES THE HALFWAY POINT

BLUE WITH YELLOW STRIPE: DRIVER NEEDS TO MOVE OVER TO ALLOW FASTER MOWERS PASSING ROOM

WHITE: ONE LAP TO GO

CHECKERED: END OF RACE

SECTION 2: SAFETY

  1. DRIVERS MUST COME EQUIPPED WITH LONG PANTS, LONG SLEEVED SHIRT OR JACKET AND A HELMET WITH A VISOR OR GOGGLES. A NECK BRACE IS RECOMMENED.
  2. MOWERS SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH A SHUT-OFF SWITCH THAT ACTIVATES IF THE DRIVER IS DISLODGED FROM THE SEAT. (STOCK MOWERS THAT DID NOT COME WITH A SWITCH ARE EXEMPT.)
  3. MOWERS MUST HAVE BLADES REMOVED.(DECKS ARE TO BE IN PLACE.)
  4. MOWERS MUST NOT HAVE EXPOSED SHARP EDGES OR ROUGH METAL THAT COULD PROVE HAZARDOUS TO OTHER DRIVERS OR SPECTATORS. ALL PARTS MUST BE SECURE.
  5. ALL EXPOSED CHAINS AND SPROCKETS MUST BE COVERD WITH A GARD.
  6. REAR TIRES SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM BEING HOOKED BY ANOTHER MOWERS TIRES. EXTENDED FENDER PLATES, NERF BARS, TUBING, ETC. CAN BE USED, NOT TO EXTEND MORE THAN 12 INCHES BEHIND THE MOWER, AND NOT TO EXCEED THE WIDTH OF THE REAR TIRES.
  7. FRONT TIRES CAN BE PROTECTED WITH A BUMPER. IF USED, WIDTH OF BUMBER CAN NOT EXTEND PAST THE FRONT OUTERMOST EDGE OF TIRE WHEN TURNED. BOTTOM OF BUMPER MUST BE 4" FROM THE GROUND. FRONT OF BUMBER CANNOT BE MORE THAN 5 INCHES IN FRONT OF THE TIRES.
  8. ALL GLASS MUST BE REMOVED OR TAPED UP.(STOCK MOWERS EXEMPT)
  9. TIRES MUST BE LAWN MOWER TIRES AND CANNOT BE EQUIPPED WITH CHAINS. NO SNOW HOG, AG. TYPE, OR KART TIRE.
  10. ALL POSITIVELY CHARGED TERMINALS MUST BE INSULATED WITH A COVER OR HEAVY TAPE. BATTERY MUST BE WELL SECURED.
  11. PORTABLE GAS CANS SHALL BE A SAFTY CAN WITH NO MORE THAN A FIVE GALLON CAPACITY.
  12. ALL DRIVERS ARE ALLOWED A PIT CREW OF ONE PERSON. NO CREW MEMBER MAY ENTER THE TRACK UNLESS AUTHORIZED BY AN OFFICAL.
  13. THE DRIVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF HIS/HER GUESTS AND CREW. NO ALCOHOL OR PROFANITY ALLOWED. MISCONDUCT WILL LEAD TO POINT LOSS OF PRESENT AND PREVIOUS RACE.
  14. INTENTIONAL BUMBING AND OTHER DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
  15. FUEL MUST BE GASOLINE WITH NO ADDITIVES. ALCOHOL, METHANOL, NITROUS OXIDE, ETC. ARE NOT ALLOWED.
  16. THE ENTRY AND EXIT TO THE TRACK WILL BE KEPT CLEAR AT ALL TIMES. ONLY THE DRIVERS IN ACTION AND DESIGNATED OFFICIALS ARE ALLOWED ON THE TRACK DURING RACE TIME.
  17. DRIVERS MUST BE AGE 16 OR OLDER. (STOCK CLASS AGE 10 TO 15)

SECTION 2. CLASS RULES

STOCK CLASS:

  1. MOWERS SHOULD BE AS DELIVERED FROM THE FACTORY LESS BLADES.
  2. ANY REPLACEMENT PARTS MUST BE EXACT DUPLICATES OF THE ORIGINAL PART AND MUST NOT OFFER ANY IMPROVEMENT OVER THE STOCK PART.
  3. MAXIMUM REAR WHEEL SIZE 10 IN.
  4. MOWERS WILL BE IMPOUNDED AFTER INSPECTION.
  5. WINNER OF EACH RACE WILL START AT THE REAR OF THE STARTING GRID THE FOLLOWING RACE.

SUPER STOCK CLASS:

  1. PULLEYS MAY BE CHANGED FOR THE DRIVELINE.
  2. EXHAUST MAY BE CHANGED.
  3. GOVERNOR MAY BE UNHOOKED, AND THE THROTTLE MOVED.
  4. MOWER MUST NOT OTHERWISE BE BE CHANGED AT ALL.
  5. ENGINE MUST BE A STOCK VERTICAL SHAFT SINGLE CYLINDER FLATHEAD.

ALL OTHER CLASSES:

  1. MINIMUM OF 2" OVERALL GROUND CLERANCE.
  2. MINIMUM OF 4" FRAME GROUND CLEARANCE.
  3. EXHAUST MUST TERMINATE AWAY FROM THE DRIVER AND COMPETITORS.
  4. FRONT AXLE AND STERRING MAY BE REINFORCED, SUBSTITUTED OR FABRICATED. FABRICATED AXLES ARE SUBJECT TO INSPECTION FOR SAFETY.
  5. WHEELS AND TIRES MUST BE THE SAME SIZE ON BOTH SIDES OF EAITHER AXLE. 5" MINIMUM, 8" MAXIMUM FOR THE FRONT WHEELS AND 8" MINIMUM, 10" MAXIMUM FOR THE REAR WHEELS. MOWERS THAT CAME WITH SMALLER WHEELS MAY KEEP THEM.
  6. DRIVELINE MAY BE MODIFIED FROM THE ENGINE TO THE REAR WHEELS. DRIVELINE MUST CONSIST OF LAWNMOWER COMPONENTS(OPEN CLASS EXEMPT)
  7. WHEELS MUST BE MADE OF STEEL.(OPEN CLASS EXEMPT)
  8. NO CENTRIFUGAL OR TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCHES ALLOWED.(OPEN CLASS EXEMPT)
  9. MOWER MUST HAVE REVERSE.(OPEN CLASS EXEMPT)
  10. MOWER MUST HAVE WORKING CLUTCH AND BRAKES.
  11. MOWER MUST HAVE A DECK. DECK MAY BE SIMULATED.
  12. MOWER MUST MEASURE 42" OR LESS OUTSIDE SIDEWALL TO OUTSIDE SIDEWALL.
  13. MOWER MUST MEASURE 60" OR LESS CENTER TO CENTER OF WHEELS.
  14. MOWER MUST USE 100% OF FACTORY BUILT FRAME. ENHANCEMENTS TO THE FRAME, WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE RULES, CAN BE MADE.(TWIN CLASSES AND OPEN CLASS EXEMPT)
  15. SEAT MUST BE LAWN MOWER SEAT. SEAT MUST BE ON THE CENTERLINE OF THE FRAME. SEAT IS SUBJECT TO THE INSPECTORS APPROVAL.
  16. MOWER MUST HAVE ON BOARD STARTING SYSTEM. (5 HORSEPOWER CLASS EXEMPT)
  17. ENGINE MUST BE MANUFACTURED FOR USE IN LAWN MOWING EQUIPMENT.
  18. ENGINE MUST BE A VERTICAL SHAFT.(OPEN CLASS EXEMPT)
  19. NO FORCED AIR INDUCTION.
  20. ENGINE MUST USE A LAWNMOWER CARBURETOR. (OPEN CLASS EXEMPT)

CLASS LISTING AND SPECIFIC CLASS RULES.

  1. 5 HP:ENGINE MUST BE A 5 HP BRIGGS AND STRATTON WITH A FACTORY CARBURETOR.
  2. STOCK FLATHEAD
  3. MODIFIED FLATHEAD
  4. TWIN FLATHEAD
  5. SINGLE CYL. OVH: LESS THEN 30 CU. IN.
  6. SINGLE CYL. OHV: 30 PLUS CU. IN.
  7. V-TWIN LESS THAN 34.5 CU. IN.
  8. V-TWIN 34.5 TO 38 CU. IN.
  9. V-TWIN 38 TO 46.5 CU. IN.
  10. OPEN
  11. POWDER PUFF:ENGINE MUST BE A SINGLE CYLINDER WITH LESS THAN 28.9 CU. IN.
  12. LEGENDS: DRIVER MUST BE 55 YEARS OF AGE OR MORE ON THE DAY OF THE RACE. ENGINE MUST BE A SINGLE CYLINDER WITH LESS THAN 28.9 CU. IN.

SECTION 4: GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. INSPCTION CLOSES AT 4:30 ON RACE DAY.
  2. ALL DRIVERS MUST ATTEND DRIVERS MEETING.
  3. DRIVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING WHEN HIS/HER RACE IS AND WHAT POSITION THEY START IN.
  4. NUMBERS SHOULD BE PLACED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE HOOD. MOWERS WITHOUT HOODS SHOULD PLACE THEM IN HIGHLY VISIBLE SPOTS. NUMBERS SHOULD BE A MINIUMUM OF 4" HIGH AND LARGE ENOUGH FOR SPECTATORS AND OFFICIALS TO RECOGNIZE THEM EASILY.
  5. ANYONE WHO WANTS TO MAKE A COMPLAINT, OR PROTEST ANOTHER DRIVER MUST DO SO TO AN OFFICIAL WITHIN A 30 MIN. WINDOW FOLLOWING THE RACE. THE TECH. TEAM MAY IMPOUND ANY MOWER THAT IS BEING PROTESTED. COMPLAINTS AND OR PROTESTS WILL BE ADDRESSED FOLLOWING THE NIGHTS EVENTS.
  6. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST SIGN A WAIVER PRIOR TO ANY RACE ACTIVITIES HOLDING THE PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS PROMOTING THE RACE HARMLESS IN THE EVENT OF INJURY REGARDLESS OF NEGLIGENCE OR OTHER FACTORS ON THE PRAT OF THE PROMOTERS.
  7. ALL PARTICIPANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN SIGN A WAIVER.
